“Every rose has it’s thorn…” Great song by the band Poison, also a great truth. Even the best and most beautiful things in life are tainted by pain, decay, and sin. It’s just the way things are.
Enjoying a good cookie will cost you calories; picking blackberries will leave you with bloody hands; and glorious summertime, filled with water activities and picnics, unleashes one of nature’s most notorious pests…mosquitos.
Even though our (Adam’s) sin has brought all of these “curses” into the world, God hasn’t left us high and dry. He has provided us with wonderful counters to these annoyances!
Today I want to share with you an all-natural alternative to store-bought mosquito repellent. Rather than fill my children’s lungs and pores with harsh chemicals such as Deet, I have opted to make my own mosquito repellent. And an added bonus is that it actually makes you smell herb-y, not chemical-y
So, yes, we have inherited (and deserve) a world filled with our own consequences. But thank You, Father, for providing us with the means to battle the “curse”!!
This recipe for mosquito repellent is so easy and affordable! Store-bought repellents are, as I’m sure you all know, very expensive. So look forward to a blissful summer filled with bug-free days and money saved! 🙂
All-Natural Mosquito Repellent
Ingredients:
- 25 drops of lavender or citronella essential oil
- ¼ cup organic apple cider vinegar
Directions:
- Combine ingredients in glass jar, and shake.
I found that empty jam/jelly jars work really well to store the repellent.
The finished product…complete with a label!
Keep in mind that this is not a one-time application like Deet would be. You will need to reapply throughout the day. Fortunately, though, it is just a small dab each time.
