Super Fun Christmas Present Idea For A Little Boy!

He's gonna love it

I have discovered something new about my two boys, Rudy and Mark:  they are totally into kits.

Kits.

Meaning, everything you need to make _______ is in a box.

This could range from a squirrel-trap-in-a-box to Weird Gifts like a seasonal-craft-in-a-box to a date-night-with-mommy-in-a-box to an anything-you-could-possibly-come-up-with-in-a-box.

…Leading me to my Christmas present idea that I am really excited about:  a Robot-In-A-Box Kit!

Robot Box

How have I not done this before??  This present is going to knock their socks off!  I declare that from now until Rudy and Mark are too cool they will receive a kit of awesome fun every Christmas.  Beginning this year with the Robot-In-A-Box Kit.

Literally, everything they need to build a giant robot will be packed into a cardboard box.

I planned everything out and bought all of the materials needed – $20 total between the Dollar Tree and Harbor Freight.  Not bad!

This is everything I bought to go into their kit:

Gear

Supplies

Robot stuff

And this is the sketch of what the robot should look like.  I’m going to include this in their box…it helps if they have a guide to go by, but still feel completely manly and in charge:

Shopping for robot parts is actually pretty easy.  Look for anything metallic and shiny.  Buttons, switches, dryer repair parts, hoses and coils.  Dollies, duct tape, weird air conditioner parts, foil pans and tongs.  I looked so cool and knowledgeable filling my buggy up with this stuff.

I found a big box at Publix that they were about to throw away, so I begged for it because it was just the right size to fit all of the robot guts into.  I wrapped the box in foil so I would look ultra cool and robot-y:

Now I just have to sit on my hands for like four weeks until I get to give it to them.

I can’t wait!  They are going to love it!

We are now officially a Christmas Kit Family.
